1996 - Asian Kung-Fu Generation was formed in 1996 by Masafumi, Kensuke, and Takahiro. Ichiji (their drummer) joined them later. It took a couple of years to achieve the popularity that they have gained.

2000-2001 - Their first works were sold exclusively online. In fact, their first album (in 2000) was entirely in English! In 2001, the group began to advertise their song Konayuki by sending tapes to radio stations. It was a success, and is AKGs first aired song. That same year, they also released a second indie album featuring Japanese lyrics this time.

2002 - AKG released their mini album Houkai Amplifier. It was a immediate success, ranking #1 on the High Line Record Sales. Oricon also ranked it as #35. During the next year, AKG scored big when they got a contract to use their song Haruka Kanata for the opening of the anime, Naruto. AKGs voice was now reaching out to both Japanese and English fans by this time.

2003 - AKG release two singles and their first full album, Kimitsunagi Five M. Their album sold over 20,000 copies!

2004 - AKGs activities increased along with their popularity. On March 11, 2004, AKG won the Best New Artist Video at the Space Shower Music Video Awards. The award was for their music video, Kimi to iu hana. In addition, they have released 3 singles. One, Rewrite, was featured as the fourth and last opening for the anime, Full Metal Alchemist! The singles, Siren, and Loop and Loop, were on Oricons top monthly ranking for two months in a row! AKG also played at 8 different music festivals this summer. One of them, the Nano-Mugen Festival, AKG actually put on! Most importantly, AKG released its second album Sol-Fa and their first DVD! Sol-Fa sold over 500,000 copies!

2005 ? AKG went on a nation tour titled "Re:Re:". The tour included over 30 concerts and sold out so quickly that AKG had to add more concerts! They also held their second annual Nano-Mugen Festival with other Japanese and International bands. To advertise for the festival, AKG released a compilation album that included one song from each band attending and AKG's new song "Blackout". On top of these performances, AKG also attended the Sonic Mania, Arabaki Rock Festival, Rising Sun Rock Festival, Summer Sonic Eve, Rock in Japan Festival, Sony Music Festival, and the FM Festival! They also held additional concerts in December titled the "Winter Dragon" Concerts. AKG ended the year by also releasing the experimental single called "Blue Train". Also of important notice, fans from around the world signed an online petition and several questionaires that impressed Tofu Records. The enormous support for AKG led to Tofu Records striking a contract to release AKG's album, "Sol-Fa", over here in the United States!

anyway try fun club the new album

its obvious this album is different from the previous 2 in many ways. for 1, the first song isnt the typical 2 minute song leading into the 2nd song. its actually a song of decent length, which im not complaining about. not surprisingly, the album is following akg's current slower paced trend, which i like. overall, its a very mature album that i see myself growing into.

My Review of the CD

Fan Club is AKG’s third major album! All fans are going to fall in love with this album! In this album, AKG plays punk rock songs with sophistication.

The album starts off with "Angou no Waltz" and transitions smoothly into the rock song "World Apart". The next song, "Blackout" is very similar to the original version. The pace is a tad quicker and the overall quality is crisp and clear.

The next track, "Sakuragusa" is amazing! Its an edgy rock song with a very catchy melody. This song nicely transitions into "Rojiura no Usagi", "Blue Train", "Mafuyu no Dance", "Butterfly", and "Senseless". All of these songs are incredible and have that great punk feel.

After "Senseless", the album quiets down a bit as it plays "Gekkou" and "Tight Rope". Both songs are slow ballads and end the album beautifully. Below are specific comments about each song. Overall though, this album is a must buy! It is incredible :D


Track Listing

1. Angou no Waltz - 9/10
This song starts out very slowly. Within the first minute it picks up the pace and really gets going. It repeats this process several times throughout the song, creating a very cool effect! Its a nice song and good introduction to "World Apart".
2. World Apart - 10/10
I love this song! It is very reminiscent of several songs from their "Kimitsunagi Five M" album and Gotoh sounds amazing! He really goes all out in the chorus of this song!

3. Blackout - 10/10
This song has a pace similar to "Loop and Loop". The chorus is pretty awesome and Gotoh’s voice sounds great!

4. Sakuragusa - 9/10
Another great song! I love how the guitar, bass, and drum synchronize together to create an edgy beat in parts of the song. Very creative!

5. Rojiura no Usagi - 10/10
Go Gotoh! His voice sounds incredible in the chorus of this song! This song is full of emotion and has a great rock feel!

6. Blue Train - 8/10
This song reminds me a lot of "Siren" and "Blackout". It has a laid back feel to it and also focuses a lot on the drums. Ijichi’s talents are really highlighted in this song which is great to see for a change.

7. Mafuyu no Dance - 8/10
This song is good, but not the best on the album. It has a rough beat to it created by the guitars and drums. The melody is just okay though.

8. Butterfly - 8/10
This song has a relaxing ballad feel to it for about the first two minutes. During the chorus it picks up some speed. Overall the song is really interesting because Ijichi really drives the beat with a dominant force. It creates a very unique sound to the song.

9. Senseless - 9/10
I like this song a lot! It is controlled, fast paced, and exciting to listen to. Throughout the song the emotion and speed in this song gradually increases until you get to the final chorus where everything lets loose. This song also reminds me a bit of the type of music you associate with car races. Very catchy, edgy, and powerful!

10. Gekkou - 10/10
This song is absolutely beautiful! Ijichi plays the introduction which is a excert from the song "Claire de Lune" by the composer, Debussy. The song then transitions to the guitars. Its so hard to describe this song. It has a amazing melody to it and Gotoh does a great job with the vocals. You’ll just have to listen to the sample to understand :)

11. Tight Rope - 10/10
Wow! This ballad is spectacular. The emotion that Gotoh gives the song is awesome. The instrumental part flows so beautifully too! It brings the album to the perfect close.

This album rocks and is by far their best! I love the edgy feel the album has and the lyrics are beautiful! A must have for all AKG fans!

This has gone back to their indie roots and I’m happy! It’s like in between Kimi Tsunagi Five M and Sol-fa. So that’s like perfect. I need to buy this, I might wait for it to come out in the states b/c of the possibility of a DVD. But awesome songs! This is like their best album!

Wow this albums sounds absolutely amazing. I think it is their best yet. The review is really cool thanks a lot -_- the transitions sounds great. I nottice that they added some acoustics sounds to Blackout : ) which made the song better. Its a diffinite must buy FOR SURE. AKFG really boosted up there creativity on this album. They like used all the sources of music in this and made into a Rock feeling : )

YAY! I’m expecting FAN CLUB on march 19. I know it’s only a few days away, but I can’t wait! I’ve downloaded a few songs from their album and it’s definitely amazing. Blue train, World apart, I CAN’T WAIT!

Even after so many listenings, I still can’t believe how much this album rocks! The highlight for me is Butterfly...just can’t get enough of that song. The music is fantastic, and the vocal melodies are just amazing. I really recommend that every AKFG fan (and even those that aren’t so much) buy this album. ‘Tis one of the best I have heard from any band in a long time.

Kinda disappointed on their recent works. Nothing reminds me of Houkai Amplifier or Kimi Tsunagi Five M. But nevertheless, still good.

I completely agree with nsjong, since Blue Train I’ve never get the same feeling as with their previous work. Hope their next work to be more like Blackout or Kimi to ui Hana ^_^

This album is amazing, like all of AKFG’s work! I think I still prefer Kimi Tsunagi Five M since I love Natsu no Hi Zanzou, Mugen Glider, No Name, Understand... the whole album actually. It’s back to their rock roots though, and I have Rojira no Usagi and Butterfly stuck in my head. Those songs are definetely my favourites on the album along with Angou no Waltz and Gekkou. I think it’s really hard to decide upon a unanimous decision on which album is best, since all their songs are brilliant. I’ll definetely be buying this as soon as possible.

The third album by Ajikan including the singles "World Apart" and "Blue Train" is completed. The thoughts that "a music fan that enjoys music in a wide meaning with life every day" were put into the album's title. The songs have a different atmosphere that is fairly noticeable in songs like "Rojiura no Usagi" and "Mafuyu no Dance".

Angou no Waltz was a good attempt at trying to make it sound like a 3 beat waltz though the chorus didn’t quite work in 4 beats. It’s obvious that Ajikan is expanding in their music and songs like Gekkou, Mafuyu no Dance and Senseless proves it. Great album, must buy if haven’t already.

Not only that,this time its called Nano Mugen x2.Means Ajikan will be performing for 2 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nano-Mugen Festival 2006 x2! (updated 04/06/06)

AKG will be holding its third annual Nano-Mugen Festival! The event will be taking place on July 2006. If you have bought a copy of "Fan Club", then you can use the code that was enclosed to reserve tickets for this performance starting April 20th! Fuji Rock Festival 2006! (updated 04/06/06)

AKG has announced that they will be attending the Fuji Rock Festival again! This is a huge festival that has several artists who perform over 3 days. The festival will take place from July 28th to July 30th. There will be 11 different stages at the event, along with other fun items like a "Kids Land", a shopping area, and camp site. Other bands like Straightner, The Hives, Johnny A, Mogwai, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mumm-Ra, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be attending the festival. AKG Presents Rock’n Roll (updated 02/16/06)

AKG and Space Shower are coming together once again to air the program "Rock ’n Roll". In the program, members of AKG will answer questions and also discuss their album "Fan Club"! The program will first air on Space Shower TV on March 25th from 23:00-24:00. They will also repeat the program on the 29th and 31st. Pearl Drums 60th Anniversary Super Live (updated 02/16/06)

AKG will be participating in an event called the Pearl Drums. This event has been held since 1946 and focuses mainly on rock bands. AKG will be participating in it on the second of June along with Polysics! Other bands such as Janne da Arc, La’cryma Christi, Straightener, and Prism will also be participating in the event.
